With soft lo-fi-inspired vocals, woodsy upright piano, authentic Rhodes, and Mellotron textures, Tean Dream creates a ‘70s-inspired bedroom-pop aesthetic that serves as a friendly host for lyrical themes of freedom, nostalgia, and finding self.
Tean Dream, the musical moniker of Tina Powell, debuts her solo EP
Shine via LOVETOWN RECORDS. This six-track release blends lo-fi
warmth, piano, Rhodes, and Mellotron-tinged textures with 1970s
bedroom-pop intimacy to create a heartfelt expression of freedom,
nostalgia, and self-discovery. The EP also features singles released
earlier this year, “Frozen Lakes” and “Radio”.
A respected musician in London and Toronto’s neo-soul scene as
keyboardist for Sunshine Makers, Tean Dream brings her voice and
vision centre stage this time with her first solo recordings. Shine
fuses the classic and modern with a nostalgic and fresh take as it
pairs indie-style production and jazz-leaning chords with piano-led
’70s pop roots. This project reveals a sepia-toned forest blossoming
in spring, capturing a sense of growth untethered by time.
A believer in music’s transformative power, Powell shares:
“I have found in music a means of expression and connection that
feels profound and changing. I really believe that art and music
have cultural impacts that create change in ways that are simply
incomparable. I feel blessed to be able to make music and connect
to people in this truly magical way.”
